Things To Do List – December In Kiama

You’ve already picked the ultimate summer holiday location Kiama, but what should you do with your time in Kiama this December? We’ve rounded up the top activities and spots for you and your loved ones to enjoy during your seaside stay. Christmas in Kiama will delight your senses.

ADMIRE ART

You’ll be transported through picturesque countryside as you visit award winning artists’ studios and galleries on The Kiama Arts Trail. From drawings and paintings, to prints and sculptures, there’s a technique and medium for every avid art admirer. As well as studio visits, you can also get along to demonstrations and gallery exhibitions. Entry to each of the venues is free.

TO MARKET

It’s difficult to imagine a more picturesque backdrop for a market than the one you’re treated to at The Kiama Farmers’ Market. Gorgeous Surf Beach is the divine setting for the abundant offering of goodies from local growers, producers and makers. Chat with the passionate suppliers about their delights (think oysters, sourdough and gelato) while the kids play on the beach. The bell marks the start of the market from 3pm Wednesdays, with the afternoon fun running until 6pm. Our tip? Pack a picnic and settle into a spot on the grassed area for an afternoon snack or early dinner.

DELECTABLE DELIGHTS

How does a burger handcrafted with locally-sourced ingredients sound? Or orange blossom hotcakes with orange curd, meringue, strawberries and vanilla mascarpone? You best make your way to The Hungry Monkey – a coffee shop which is also an exquisite fusion of both a burger and health food restaurant. Or, if your tastebuds are requiring a more Mediterranean offering, check out The Brooding Italian. It’s the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. We’d also recommend @milkandhoney for a good cuppa.

BERRY GOOD

Sit back and celebrate all your hard work this year with a glass of the region’s finest wine in hand. Head across to Berry (an easy 20-minute drive from Kiama) for an afternoon or evening of indulgent relaxation. As well as vineyards, the gorgeous village is home to restaurants, markets, and vintage and art shops.

FUN EXPLOSION

Bring in the new year with a bang down at the fireworks at Black Beach. A kaleidoscope of colour and lights awaits you on December 31 when the fireworks light up the stunning Kiama Harbour sky. Take along a picnic blanket and your loved ones to make some truly beautiful memories for 2018 and beyond. The fun begins at 9pm. We’d recommend walking if possible, because the crowds are quite large and parking can be difficult.
