Why you should spend Easter at the beach in Kiama

From a giant chocolate egg hunt to kids cooking classes, here’s some of the top reasons you should consider giving the big bunny a seaside break this Easter in Kiama.

Stay well

Beach season is far from over, and there’s no better time to embrace the salt and the sand than autumn. Spending time by the ocean at Kiama Holidays Parks this season means beating the crowds, cheaper rates and shorter lines. While basking in the autumn temperatures, your skin, muscles and joints will thank you for the extra time spent soaking up the benefits of the marine ecosystem.

Culinary class

Let’s face it, you’re going to be on the hunt for something new and exciting for little ones to do these holidays. Kiama has you covered, with the chance for kids to learn new skills to take home and put to the test year-round. Chef-nutritionist team Two Peas in a Pot are running an Easter-themed cooking class on Thursday, April 18. There’s two two-hour sessions on offer: one for children aged 7-12 and one for those 12 years and above.

To market

You don’t want to miss the Good Friday edition of the Kiama Makers and Growers Market. There will be more than 50 stalls of lovely local wares and gourmet goodies. Pick up handmade soaps and skincare, stock up on plants or delicious delights and wind down and relax into the holiday vibe with a freshly squeezed juice or cuppa. The little ones will love the games including egg and spoon races, sack races, tug of war and an Easter egg giveaway. Check it out from 10am-3pm at Black Beach.

Hunter gatherer

Scrumptious treats are waiting to be scooped up at Jamberoo Action Park on Easter Sunday. Make the 20-minute trip over from Kiama for the Giant Easter Egg Hunt from 9am. Choccie eggs will be hidden throughout the picnic grounds of the park for kids aged 4-12. The hunt is free with the purchase of a day pass or a season pass, and you can buy tickets from the Kiama Visitors Centre before your trip. After the hunt, the Jamberoo Action Park opens to the public for a day of water-themed adventures.

Seaside shop

Spend Easter Monday checking out the talents of local artists at the Kiama Seaside Easter Monday Markets. Grab a coffee and wander the stalls admiring the country crafts, artisanal and antique wares on offer, as well as bric-a-brac, collectibles, plants and stunning homemade designs. It’s the perfect way to wrap a relaxing Easter on the coast. Check it out at Black Beach from 9am-3pm.
